Protect your Cargo Bike from Theft

Riding a bike in urban areas is one of the most efficient ways to commute. Businesses use cargo bikes to deliver goods and services, and individuals use them to commute to work and run errands. Riding in city settings is also becoming safer because of extensive bike lanes, which makes it easier to get around by bike. Even though riding is safer now, you must ensure that your bike is safe when you are not with it. Crime exists, and so sometimes bicycles get stolen. According to the NYPD legal affairs bureau, over 4,500 bikes were stolen throughout the five boroughs of New

York City in 2014 alone. Below, we will highlight some necessary safety precautions that all riders must take (for those living in and outside a populated city).Cargo Bike

You should always lock up your bike. This is the most significant rule to remember. Regardless of where you are and what time of day it is, always lock up your bicycle.

Lock your bike to a safe and legal object to prevent confiscation or easy theft. Make sure no signs say parking bikes are not allowed. Also, make sure that the bike is chained to a permanent fixture that provides 360-degree protection. If you chain your bike to a pole with no top, a thief can lift a bike up and over.

Use a heavy-duty lock. They are heavy to carry, but they are the only locks on the market that (when used correctly) guarantee protection from theft.

Do no underestimate the importance of protecting your bikes at all times. Even big bikes, like cargo bikes and three-wheeled bikes, should be locked up when not in use.
